Not wasting my time with Half.com/amazon.

Thanks for everyones tips on where to sell stuff without paying fees. However, most of my books are only going for $1.00 or less. I don't feel it is worth my time. Besides, it could be months before they are sold and we need to get this stuff out of our house. I have some curriculum stuff that I will sell when the boys are finished, but most of it will just go to our upcoming yard sale. We are planning to have a huge neighborhood sale in May. I honestly can't wait for this sale! I hate clutter and my corner in my basement houseing yard sale stuff is nothing but clutter!

On another note. I am happy to report that our first project in our basement is complete. We built a network closet. It houses our main household computer, battery back up, and office files. We dry-walled, painted, put up shelves, put in a zillion outlets (all hooked up to a special battery to handle a possible surge), and put down armstrong stick tile flooring. We still need to put up a ceiling, but we will wait until the other rooms are completed to allow for easier access to the wires. I took video, but I plan to show that at the end. A simple before before and after video.

The best part is---we have done all of this without using any credt cards! We are still credit card free! I am really proud of this little fact! We are really pacing out the projects and using our cash flow to pay for it.

Last night was another terrible night with kids waking up other kids...all this does is confirm how helpful kids having their own rooms will be! I really can't wait!

  1. I've just come across your interesting blog, and I'll be reading! It's hard to sell stuff without fees. Listing stuff on Craigslist is popular, but that entails having to meet strangers, and I'm not a fan.

As far as books are concerned, I've had luck with Cash4Books.net. Input in the ISBN code and it will tell you whether they'll buy the book from you. I wrote about it on my blog at http://rainydaysaver.blogspot.com/2009/02/cash-for-books.html

    Good luck!

  4. I have also found it difficult to sell books other than the latest best seller. What I've decided to do is donate them to the library and get a tax write-off, or possibly to a school. It is nice to get rid of them in one swoop without having to box up single books and mailing them out. Just an alternate idea.

  5. You know I use to put my books on half price too.
But it seems I get more for them if I just put them on the auction. I think when 2 people want the same item it becomes a contest and the price goes up.
